The area features low coastal topography with residential settlements and moderate urbanization. An industrial zone is present inland toward Salerno.

Coastal seawater with sandy bottom. Bounded by two river mouths: Fuorni River (40.6325°N, 14.8324°E) to the north and Picentino River (40.6251°N, 14.8394°E) to the south.

Location

Salerno, Campania region, Italy. The bathing area is situated along the coastline between the mouths of the Fuorni River to the north and the Picentino River to the south.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as poor based on monitoring data from 2020–2023. Identified pollution sources include: treated wastewater from the Consortium Treatment Plant in the industrial zone discharged into the Picentino River; urban wastewater treatment; and overflow from the entire sewage network during heavy rainfall events, with discharge into the Picentino River.
