A sandy beach located south of Porto Arechi in Salerno, featuring low coastal geography with residential settlements and moderate urbanization. The area is adjacent to the Marina di Arechi tourist port and includes the mouth of the Fuorni River at its southern end. The beach has various structures along its shoreline.

Location

Salerno, in the Campania region. The bathing water is located south of Porto Arechi, adjacent to Marina di Arechi.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). Treated wastewater from the Consortial Treatment Plant in the Industrial Zone is discharged to the Picentino River. During heavy rainfall, overflow structures (sfiori) along the entire municipal coast discharge into the Picentino River.

Risks

Two identified pollution sources: (1) Fuorni pumping station (S6) on the east side with emergency overflow discharge at the Fuorni River mouth, which has been obstructed for several years likely due to riverbed elevation changes; (2) emergency overflow from the treatment plant on the east side near the Fuorni River mouth. Heavy rainfall can activate sewer overflows across the entire coastal section.
