Sud Porto Retilino - Nord Bagni Paina

A bathing area located between the south port of Retilino and the north Bagni Paina in Malcesine on Lake Garda. The beach is oriented westward and formed from a small natural inlet in the northern exit area of Malcesine town centre. The beach width ranges from 5 to 10 metres. The bathing water has been classified as excellent from 2021 to 2024.

Location

Malcesine, Verona Province, Veneto Region. The beach is situated between the south port of Retilino and the north Bagni Paina, in the northern exit area of the town centre.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (years 2021–2024). Monitoring results: EI95° 9.741; EI90° 6.836; EC95° 6.399; EC90° 4.693. Identified pollution sources include a municipal mixed water conveyance system with emergency overflow points, a consortium collector, stormwater discharge conduits, and the Peschiera del Garda wastewater treatment plant which discharges into the Mincio River in Lombardy. River mouths (Val Bona, Vaio Rovina) are sources of potential contamination.

Risks

Potential pollution from river mouths (Val Bona and Vaio Rovina). Short-duration pollution events may occur from combined sewer overflows and stormwater discharges.
