Coastal water body (Ligurian Sea). Area: 0.506 km². The water body is classified as coastal waters with low stability (CWA3). It is part of the Genoa–Camogli water body.

Location

Genoa, Liguria, Italy. The bathing area is situated along the Anita Garibaldi promenade in the Nervi district of Genoa, adjacent to the Nervi parks. Rocky outcrops and low cliffs characterise the shoreline.

Facilities

Tourist services and dining facilities available. Access for animals is permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (based on 2021–2024 evaluation). No treatment plants or sewage pipes are present within the bathing water. A sewage pipe located approximately 720 m to the east outside the bathing water discharges offshore; a second pipe is situated approximately 420 m from the shore.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events may occur due to urbanised context and increased stream flow during heavy rainfall, which can transport effluent downstream. A small stream mouth directly affects the bathing water. Microalgae proliferation of Ostreopsis ovata has been documented in the region over the past decade; monitoring reference station at Bagnara recorded values between 10,000–30,000 cells/litre in July 2022 and 2023. Inhalation of aerosol from Ostreopsis ovata may cause temporary and reversible respiratory symptoms and fever in sensitive individuals.
