Torre is a bathing beach located in the municipality of Oeiras, bounded on the eastern side by the São Julião da Barra fortress and on the western side by the Oeiras recreational port. The beach has a moderate extension and benefits from good wind shelter due to its topographical position. It offers a wide range of beach facilities and services.

Location

Located in the beginning of Oeiras municipality. Coordinates: 38.675494° N, 9.322998° W (ETRS89).

Facilities

Beach facilities and services are available. Off-beach catering services are provided.

Season

June 1st to September 30th. Sampling frequency is monthly.

Water Quality

Water quality classification from 2020 under Decreto-Lei 135/09. No days of bathing advisories or prohibitions due to short-term pollution events occurred during the 2020 bathing season.

Risks

Short-term pollution events lasting 1–2 days may occur due to excessive river discharge from the Ribeira da Laje during heavy rainfall or sewerage network failure. Potential microbiological pollution sources include the Ribeira da Laje stream, surface water drainage, sewerage network failures, and illegal discharges in the watershed. Cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation potential are all unlikely.
