Udbyhøj Strand is a bathing beach located in the northwestern part of Norddjurs Municipality near the mouth of Randers Fjord in Hevring Bay. The beach is approximately 100 meters long with a sandy seabed. Water temperature varies between 10°C and 24°C during the bathing season. The water is classified as excellent quality, the best possible classification for bathing water. The beach is backed by a summer house area with tidal flats and reed vegetation.

Water

Saltwater beach approximately 100 meters long with a sandy seabed. The distance from the beach edge to 2 meters depth is approximately 50 meters. Water temperature ranges from 10°C to 24°C during the bathing season.

Location

Located in northwestern Norddjurs Municipality near the mouth of Randers Fjord. GPS reference point: Udbyhøj Strand, Koglevej/Krammesvej, 8950 Ørsted. Access is available from an adjacent summer house settlement via private roads. There is no public parking facility.

Facilities

Table and bench sets along the beach. Lifeguard rescue post. Dogs must be leashed from 1 April to 30 September.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent, the best possible classification. Classification is based on regular control samples taken over a 4-year period, including analyses of E. coli and enterococci. Bacterial concentrations are low and relatively stable.

Risks

Low risk of fecal pollution from summer house areas and dispersed settlement. Very low risk of blue-green algae blooms due to high salinity. Low risk of other microscopic algae blooms. Relatively high risk of seaweed accumulation due to nutrient loading of Hevring Bay and favorable growth conditions in shallow water areas. Low risk of oxygen depletion due to shallow water depth and current conditions. Low risk of chemical pollution from maritime accidents. Pollen accumulations are a recurring phenomenon that can locally cause poor water quality. Possible growth of nutrient-related macroalgae in shallow areas.
