Uggerby Strand is a 500-meter-long, 100-meter-wide beach located 3 kilometres north of Uggerby in Denmark, featuring fine sand without significant stones. The beach bottom consists of fine sand. The strand is bordered by dune plantations dominated by coniferous trees. Water depth under 2 metres extends approximately 300 metres from the shore.

Skagerrak saltwater coastal area. Water depth under 2 metres extends approximately 300 metres from shore. Depth conditions are variable over short periods due to tidal, current, and weather effects. Primary water current direction is from the west.

Location

Located north of Uggerby Klitplantage, 3 kilometres north of Uggerby in Hjørring Municipality, Denmark. The beach is marked by a defined swimming area indicated on site maps.

Season

Routine water quality monitoring conducted during the bathing water season. Water quality classification revised annually in May before the season start.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification based on routine testing 2011–2014, revised annually before the bathing season. Testing measures faecal indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci). Within the defined swimming area, concentrations of E. coli and enterococci remain well below threshold values for excellent classification.

Risks

Uggerby Å stream outlet located approximately 3 kilometres east of the beach occasionally contains high concentrations of faecal bacteria; swimming near the stream outlet is not recommended. Risk of cyanobacteria bloom assessed as low. Risk of phytoplankton bloom assessed as low. Risk of large quantities of macroalgae (seaweed) washed ashore assessed as low. Sudden pollution events possible from ship accidents, manure tank leaks, and sewer line failures. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur.
