Ulvshale Camping

Ulvshale Camping is a 450-metre-long sandy beach with small stones scattered across it, located on the northern part of Møn facing the Baltic Sea. The beach is 20 metres wide and situated near the Ulvshale peninsula, which is noted for its natural beauty. The seabed in front of the beach consists of fine sand, and water depth increases gradually, making it suitable for children. The beach is backed by Ulvshale Campsite and a large summer house area.

Water

Baltic Sea (Østersøen). Classified as brackish water. Water depth under 2 metres extends 150 metres from the shore. Current direction is variable with no primary direction.

Location

Located on the northern part of Møn on the Baltic Sea coast. Access is via Ulvshalevej to several parking areas along the beach. Parking is available.

Facilities

Toilets, parking, life ring (rescue ring), first aid kit, disabled access, drinking water, warning sign for reduced water quality, blue flag.

Season

Routine monitoring is conducted during the bathing season. Classification is revised annually in May.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring for indicator bacteria E. coli and enterococci during the bathing season. The classification was calculated from control samples taken regularly between 2007–2010 and meets statutory requirements. The classification is revised annually before the start of the bathing season.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large quantities of macroalgae washing ashore. Very low risk of chemical pollution such as oil spills. Glass shards and litter can occasionally occur. No identified faecal pollution sources capable of degrading water quality are known to exist near the beach.
