Location

Saint Pabu beach and Ville Berneuf beach are located in the communes of Erquy and Pléneuf-Val-André respectively, in the Côtes d'Armor department.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored by the regional health authority (ARS) for bathing water compliance. Bacteriological monitoring data is collected from 2007 to 2011 for both Saint-Pabu and Ville Berneuf beaches. Shellfish harvest zones are also monitored through microbiological networks (REMI) and phytoplankton surveillance (REPHY). Potential pollution sources include collective sewerage systems, non-collective sanitation, storm water drainage networks, agricultural activities, and accidental discharges.

Risks

Fecal pollution risks identified, with variation dependent on rainfall quantity, distance from rainfall events, monitoring period timing, and tidal coefficients. Macroalgae proliferation potential is assessed.
