Coastal marine water body IT_12_RICCIO_VASTO. Beach area extends 1.580 square kilometres. Predominantly pebble beach.

Location

Fossacesia, Abruzzo, Italy. Located at kilometre 489.100 on State Road 16. Public parking is available. Contact: Municipality of Fossacesia, Via Marina 18, telephone 0872-62221.

Facilities

Bathing establishments, sun shades, shops, public parking, children's play areas, waterfront promenade. Animals are prohibited.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. No sewage treatment plants, sea outfalls, or septic tanks are present in the bathing area. River mouths have been identified as a source of potential pollution influence, but this is under modelling study.

Risks

Algal blooms occur occasionally in the marine waters of the Abruzzo area during summer months. Some dinoflagellate blooms were observed in past years with scarce or absent toxic species. Cyanobacteria blooms have not been observed.
