The Zone Facing Via Claudio is a bathing area in Roseto degli Abruzzi, Abruzzo, located along a sandy and pebbly beach with exposed and submerged rocky outcrops. The beach is approximately 20 metres wide. The area is classified as Excellent quality coastal waters and is situated in a flat plain with the first hills appearing about 1 kilometre inland.

Coastal waters with medium stability. The bathing area extends over 1.69 square kilometres. Waters drain to the sea.

Location

Roseto degli Abruzzi, Teramo Province, Abruzzo Region. The competent authority is the Mayor's office at Piazza della Repubblica n. 1, 64026 Roseto degli Abruzzi. The Coast Guard Local Maritime Office is located at Lungomare Trieste n. 1, 64026 Roseto degli Abruzzi.

Facilities

Bathing establishments present. Services include assistance and first aid, sanitary facilities, and food and beverage services. Animals are prohibited by regional decree and bathing ordinance.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The sewer network is of separate type and converges at a treatment plant located in Scerne, Pineto municipality. The plant operates two activated sludge lines and three biodisk lines with final disinfection. Treated effluent complies with D.Lgs. 152/06 standards and is discharged into the Vomano river. No specific monitoring measures are currently active.

Risks

Marine waters in the Abruzzo area have not presented characteristic cyanobacteria blooms. Rare algal blooms occur in summer; past years showed some dinoflagellate blooms with low or no toxic species presence. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation events have occurred. No anomalous events have been recorded.
