Castel di Mezzo is a narrow, pebbly beach mixed with sand located in the San Bartolo water body. The beach features a cliff face subject to landslides immediately adjacent to the shore. The seabed contains rocky outcrops that degrade rapidly, along with both submerged and exposed rock formations.

Location

Pesaro, Marche region, Pesaro-Urbino province, Italy. The beach is part of a regional park area with scattered houses. Municipal Police can be contacted at 0721 387800.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E. The Pesaro municipal sewerage system includes mixed-type collectors conveying wastewater to five treatment plants in the territory. The largest plant is located at Borgheria near the mouth of the Foglia River and serves Pesaro's urban core. This facility has a capacity of approximately 90,000 population equivalents and a flow rate of approximately 20,000 m³/day with biological treatment. Over the past four years, 24 controls per year of table 1 parameters and 6 controls per year of table 3 parameters have been performed, all in compliance with legal limits. Some mixed urban wastewater collectors not connected to the Borgheria treatment plant discharge into the Foglia River and Genica stream with disinfection stations; some have been partially remediated through connection to new separate sewerage systems.
