Gl. Løgten Strand is a bathing beach located south of Gl. Løgten Strandkro, adjacent to a summer cottage area. The beach stretches approximately 125 meters in length on both sides of a gravel path and is situated on the east side of a narrow sandbar separated from the mainland by an elongated lagoon-like water body. The beach and bottom consist of sand and gravel, approximately 5 meters wide. Seaweed deposits accumulate along the water's edge, with quantities varying seasonally.

Water

Coastal water body (Kalø Vig) with sand and gravel bottom. Approximately 5 meters wide beach. Water depth is not particularly deep. Salinity approximately 25‰. Water temperature varies between 15°C and 22°C during bathing season.

Location

South of Gl. Løgten Strandkro near Havhusevej in the summer cottage area. Access via Strandvejen and a gravel path crossing a small bridge. Limited parking available near the access road; no designated parking spaces on site.

Facilities

Picnic tables and benches. Dogs must be kept on leads from 1 April to 30 September. No lifeguards, toilets, or showers mentioned. No Blue Flag.

Season

1 May to 15 September. Water quality monitored regularly during this period with four samples analysed.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as satisfactory. Regular bacteriological monitoring shows generally stable good conditions, but elevated bacterial parameters are occasionally recorded, often following heavy rainfall events. High risk of short-term faecal pollution from sewage system overflows in Rodskov and Eskerod, discharge from scattered dwellings, and manure spillage.

Risks

High risk of short-term faecal pollution from sewage discharge despite unknown source. Blue-green algae risk very low due to high salinity. Large risk of seaweed accumulation in periods, producing unpleasant hydrogen sulphide odour when decomposing. Red/reddish-brown discoloration possible from dinoflagellate blooms. Low risk of chemical pollution from ships. Pollen accumulation possible in spring/early summer.
