Ugelbølle Strand is a sandy beach approximately 150 meters long located between Mågeøen and summer house beaches at Følle Strand in Denmark. The beach and seabed consist of sand with minor gravel and stone. The water is shallow, with a distance of approximately 50 meters to reach 2 meters depth. A bathing bridge and tables/benches are available for public use. The beach is bordered to the north by Strandvejen and to the east by the outlet of Blombjerg Stream.

Water

Sandy beach and seabed approximately 10 to 12 meters wide. Water depth reaches 2 meters at approximately 50 meters from shore. Salinity approximately 25 ‰. Water temperature varies between 15 °C and 22 °C during the bathing season.

Location

Ugelbølle Strand is located in Syddjurs Kommune, accessed via Strandvejen. Parking is not marked at the beach entrance, but individual cars may be parked between sunrise and sunset. Alternatively, the parking area at Mågeøen can be used.

Facilities

Bathing bridge available. Tables and benches available. Dogs must be kept on a leash from April 1 to September 30.

Season

Official monitoring season is May 1 to September 15.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent. Bathing water is monitored regularly during the bathing season (May 1 to September 15) with 4 samples collected and analysed. Analysis shows generally stable good conditions, though water samples occasionally contain low bacterial levels. Identified pollution sources include wastewater discharge from scattered buildings and incorrect connections in summer houses, manure spillage, and toilet tank emptying from recreational boats.

Risks

Fecal pollution from wastewater from summer houses and potential misconnections in rainwater drainage. Blue-green algae risk is very low due to high salinity. Low risk of mass blooms of other microscopic algae. Low risk of large amounts of seaweed wash-up. Low risk of chemical pollution from ships. Recurring phenomenon of pollen accumulation can reduce bathing water quality. Risk of chemical pollution from maritime accidents or incidents.
