Water

Coastal bathing water. Beach width approximately 5 meters. The 2-meter depth contour is located approximately 120 meters from shore. Bottom consists of sand with areas of soft sediment. Predominantly weak north-flowing current. Waves generated by fast ferry operations typically add 50–75 cm to natural wave height.

Location

Studstrup village, Aarhus Municipality, Denmark. Access from Studstrup Strandvej. Good parking facilities available. A publicly owned recreation area with grass and scattered trees is located directly adjacent to the beach.

Facilities

Public recreation area with toilet and shower facilities available. No lifeguards or flag system mentioned.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent. Two rainwater outfalls located 70 meters and 230 meters north of the bathing area may cause slightly elevated bacterial counts at the beach. Tagmose Creek discharges approximately 350 meters north of the beach. Rare overflow of wastewater from a pumping station on Præstekravevej may occur, typically lasting less than 2 hours.

Risks

Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) blooms may occur during specific current directions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Macroalgae (seaweed) blooms can produce toxins in decomposing seaweed and may harbor disease-causing bacteria protected from UV degradation. Rainwater discharge can elevate bacterial counts.
