Skæring Strandpark

Skæring Strandpark is a bathing area in Aarhus Municipality with a 10–15 metre wide sandy beach. The water has a sandy bottom with depths reaching 2 metres approximately 75–150 metres from the shoreline. Water quality is classified as excellent based on data from the last four years. Weak northward currents are typical, though fast ferries can generate waves 50–75 cm above natural wave height.

Water

Coastal bathing water with sandy bottom. Beach width 10–15 metres. Depth contour of 2 metres located approximately 75–150 metres from the shoreline. Predominantly weak northward current.

Location

Aarhus Municipality, Denmark. Access from Kaløvig Yacht Harbour and Mindelunden. Also accessible from most summer house roads, though parking is limited in these areas.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent, based on data from the last four years. Low risk of faecal contamination identified. Studstrup Bæk outlet is approximately 500 metres north of the beach.

Risks

Cyanobacteria blooms can occur during specific current directions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Macroalgae blooms can produce toxins in decaying seaweed and protect pathogenic bacteria from UV degradation. High waves may occur from fast ferry operations. Large quantities of seaweed at the water's edge warrant avoidance of nearby swimming areas.
