Rodskov Strand

Rodskov Strand, also known as Hornslet Strand or Rosenholm Bådelaug's strand, is a sandy beach approximately 125 metres long located on both sides of a boat club bridge. The beach and seafloor consist of sand with minor gravel deposits and measure approximately 5 metres wide. The beach supports surfing, sailing, kayaking, and has a 100-metre public boat and bathing pier established by Rosenholm Bådelaug. Public toilet facilities are available on site.

Water

Coastal water body in Kalø Vig with salinity of approximately 25‰ and water temperature varying between 15°C and 22°C during the bathing season. Local current conditions depend on weather, wind, and coastal morphology.

Location

Located in Syddjurs Municipality, Denmark, accessed via Strandvejen with signposted access. A parking area accommodates approximately 40 vehicles.

Facilities

Public boat and bathing pier (100 metres long), public toilet, tables and benches. Dogs must be kept on leash from 1 April to 30 September.

Season

Official monitoring period is 1 May to 15 September, with four water samples analysed during this season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent. Bathing water is monitored regularly during the season. Analysis of bathing water data shows generally stable and good conditions. Fecal pollution risk is low due to isolated houses with private wastewater treatment and low-risk sanitation facilities. No chemical contamination sources from nearby industries are present.

Risks

Potential risks include cyanobacteria (very low risk due to high salinity), other microscopic algae (low risk), seaweed accumulation (low risk), chemical pollution from maritime accidents or oil spills (low risk), and pollen accumulation in spring and early summer.
