A gravel beach with fine calcareous and siliceous stones located 100 m south of the Musone River mouth in Porto Recanati. The beach has a mean slope of 3% above water and 8% below water, with a distance of 4 m between mean low and high water marks. The surrounding area consists of urban settlements, tourist facilities, and the riparian zone of the Musone River estuary.

Water

Coastal bathing water (Numana_Porto Recanati body) with an area of 0.24092 square kilometers. Beach width is 40 m. Astronomical tidal range is 30–50 cm.

Location

Porto Recanati, Macerata Province, Marche Region, Italy. The beach is situated at the mouth of the Musone River. Access to animals is not permitted according to Municipal Regulation No. 42/2018.

Facilities

Camping activities are present.

Water Quality

Classification Poor (Scarsa) for years 2015–2018. 2015: E. coli 90th percentile 4725.0 CFU/100ml, intestinal enterococci 1163.3 CFU/100ml. 2016: E. coli 4362.0 CFU/100ml, intestinal enterococci 1163.3 CFU/100ml. 2017: E. coli 2905.5 CFU/100ml, intestinal enterococci 775.6 CFU/100ml. 2018: E. coli 2905.5 CFU/100ml, intestinal enterococci 529.3 CFU/100ml.

Risks

Sewage discharge from treatment plants serving surrounding municipalities. Combined sewer overflows occur during intense rainfall events, discharging into the Aspio Stream and its tributaries, and directly onto the beach at Numana. Urban and semi-natural agricultural areas surround the water body.
