100 M SUD FOSSO SAN BIAGIO is a rocky shoreline bathing area located in Altidona, Marche region. The beach is situated in an urban periphery with a railway line passing through the adjacent area. The distance between mean low water and high water (safe water limit) is approximately 80 metres, with an astronomical tidal range of 30–50 centimetres.

Location

Altidona, Marche region, Fermo province, Italy. The area is administered by the Municipality of Altidona, located at Largo Municipale, 1, 63016 Altidona (FM).

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E (poorest category). The zone is served by a mixed public sewage system connected to a treatment plant located in Marina di Altidona. The treatment plant is of the biological type with active sludge, with a design capacity of 9,000 inhabitant equivalents. It serves approximately 2,000 inhabitant equivalents in winter and 7,500 in summer. The discharge is continuous and comprises urban wastewater including domestic and industrial effluent. A 100-metre outflow from Fosso San Biagio has been identified as a pollution source. In 2006–2007, the treatment plant demonstrated good efficiency with COD, BOD5, and suspended solids parameters consistently conforming to standards. Microbiological controls in 2008, 2009, and 2010 were also compliant.

Risks
