100 M Sud Tavollo is a sandy bathing beach in Gabicce Mare, Marche region. The beach measures approximately 100 metres in average width and is situated between the eastern pier of the Cattolica-Gabicce Mare canal port and beach establishment number 7/8. Granulometric analysis shows the emerged beach consists of 98.49% fine sand and 1.51% silt, while the submerged portion is dominated by fine sands near the water edge, transitioning to very fine sands and mud near breakwaters.

Sandy beach bordering the Tavollo stream (Torrente Tavollo) in a densely urbanized area. Beach area covers 0.17562 square kilometres.

Location

Gabicce Mare, Pesaro Urbino Province, Marche region, Italy. Located between the eastern pier of the Cattolica-Gabicce Mare canal port and beach establishment number 7/8. A small free beach area without facilities is adjacent to the pier with lifeguard services provided by the Port Authority of Pesaro.

Facilities

Three bars/restaurants and eight beach establishments with accessible services and beach access are present. One swimming school operates on the beach and at establishment number 4. A motor-powered recreational boat service operates on the border between beach establishments 8 and 9. Animals are not permitted on the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Category E. The municipality of Gabicce Mare is served entirely by a sewerage network, predominantly separate type (90%). The Gabicce Mare treatment plant, located at Campo Quadro, has a capacity of 49,600 population equivalents and serves Gabicce and Gradara. In 2010, organic load reduction (COD and BOD5 parameters) exceeded 95%, suspended solids and ammonia nitrogen reduction reached the same percentage. Annual average concentrations of total nitrogen and total phosphorus comply with standards, with total nitrogen below 15 mg/L and total phosphorus below 2 mg/L, achieving 70-80% nitrogen and 80% phosphorus removal rates.

Risks

The presence of the Tavollo stream mouth, which under particular meteorological conditions can convey mixed waters from some overflow channels of the Gabicce treatment plant. No short-term pollution events reported. No cyanobacterial proliferation reported in the past four years. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation reported.
