The bathing water at 200 M Sud Fosso Campofilone is a fine sand beach with a gentle average slope of 3% on both the emerged and submerged portions. The beach is protected by artificial rocky outcrops. The distance between mean low water and high water (safe water limit) is approximately 80 metres. Astronomical tides range from 30 to 50 centimetres. The surrounding area consists of the periphery of the urban centre with a railway line passing through.

The bathing water is classified as Category E. A municipal wastewater treatment plant is located at Marina di Campofilone and serves the area via a mixed public sewer system. The treatment facility uses activated sludge biological treatment with a design capacity of 2,500 inhabitant equivalents and treats urban wastewater including domestic and industrial effluent. The receiving water body is Fosso Campofilone in the Rio Canale hydrological basin.

Risks

Pollution sources include the Fosso Campofilone discharge located 200 metres to the north, the Marina di Campofilone treatment plant discharge, and three lifting stations discharging into Fosso Campofilone. Potential short-duration pollution events include accidental failures and overflow from the municipal treatment plant and lifting stations. No cyanobacterial proliferation has been reported. No macroalgal, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation has been recorded in the preceding four years.
