A rocky shoreline bathing area located 300 metres north of the central ENEL power station in Pedaso. The beach is situated in a peripheral urban zone with a railway line passing through the surrounding area. The distance between medium-low and high water (safe water limit) is approximately 80 metres, with astronomical tides ranging from 30 to 50 centimetres.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E (poorest category). The area is served by a mixed public sewerage system connected to a treatment plant at Valdaso (Pedaso municipality). The plant is a biological activated sludge facility with design capacity of 5,000 population equivalents. Winter organic load: approximately 1,681 population equivalents; summer load: approximately 4,169. The treatment plant demonstrated good efficiency in 2006 and 2007, with COD, BOD5, and suspended solids parameters consistently conforming. Microbiological controls in 2008, 2009, and 2010 were conforming.

Risks

An ENEL power station discharge is located 300 metres to the south. Potential pollution sources include accidental equipment failures and sewerage overflow events.
