A sandy beach located 200 metres to the right of a former sewage outfall in Marina di Ragusa. The beach is 15 metres wide and features breakwaters constructed to counteract significant coastal erosion. It is easily accessible and situated within the bathing fraction of the area. The coastal strip is both free and equipped with facilities.

Sicilian Channel (Canale di Sicilia), coastal tract 16. The area is part of a broader urbanised coastal strip characterised by a subtropical dry climate with high summer temperatures and modest winter rainfall.

Location

Facilities

Lifeguards present. The area is equipped with facilities. No municipal ordinances or signs restrict animal access.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent. Treated wastewater from the sewage treatment plant is discharged into the sea via a submarine pipeline. Potential pollution sources identified include intensive urbanisation, untreated urban discharges, and malfunction of the treatment plant or submarine pipeline. No pollution events have occurred in recent years.

Risks

Heavy rainfall can cause overflow of white water runoff and storm overflow into bathing waters. No pollution sources are present within the bathing area itself. No cyanobacterial proliferation or macroalgae events have been recorded in the past four years.
