A sandy beach with dense Mediterranean scrub vegetation on the dunes, located adjacent to the Macchia Foresta del Fiume Irminio Nature Reserve. The beach has a width of 15 metres and extends for 0.75 kilometres along the coast. The coastline is characterized by low urbanization with some agricultural settlements inland and rocky promontories bounding the beach. The area experiences a dry subtropical climate with high summer temperatures and modest winter precipitation.

Canale di Sicilia (Sicily Channel) coastal water body, IT1908156, coastal stretch 16. The area extends 0.75 kilometres along the coast.

Location

Marina di Ragusa, Ragusa, Sicily. The beach is situated at the entrance to the bathing fraction area and is easily accessible. Located 200 metres to the left of a former sewage discharge point.

Facilities

The beach is both free and equipped with services. Animals are permitted; no municipal ordinances or signs prohibiting access exist. Beach access is easy.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Treated wastewater from the treatment plant is discharged into the sea via a submarine pipeline. Potential pollution sources include intense urbanization, untreated urban discharges, malfunctioning treatment plant or submarine pipeline, and overflow dischargers. Heavy precipitation can cause overflow conveyance into bathing waters.
