Anslet Hage, Phillipsborg Strand

Anslet Hage is a 200-metre-long beach composed of fine sand with occasional patches of shell fragments and small stones, located east of the Phillipsborg camp on the Lillebælt strait. The beach is 5–10 metres wide and bordered by woodland to the west. Water conditions are calm and the setting is described as naturally beautiful. The bathing water has been classified as excellent quality based on routine monitoring of faecal indicator bacteria.

Water

The Lillebælt strait at Anslet Hage is classified as brackish water. The seabed consists of sand with small and medium-sized stones. Water depth is under 2 metres up to 400 metres from the shore. Current direction is variable, primarily from the south-east, south, or north.

Location

The beach is located east of Phillipsborg camp on the Lillebælt strait. Access is via a side road to Kystvejen. A waste bin is located at the beach entrance.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring of E. coli and enterococcus bacteria conducted during the bathing season (1 June – 1 September) from 2012–2015. Risk of cyanobacteria blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low.

Risks

A drainage ditch outlet 100 metres south of the beach carries risk of high concentrations of faecal bacteria; swimmers are advised to avoid this outlet and bathe within the defined beach boundaries. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) washup in the water's edge. Risk of glass fragments and litter. Sudden pollution from accidents involving pleasure boats, slurry tanks, or sewage lines is possible. Risk of chemical pollution is very low.
