Sandersvig Strand, Syd is a 380-meter-long beach with fine sand, small stones, and crushed shells on the seabed. The beach is 10 meters wide and situated east of the Sandersvig summer house area, surrounded by a large forest with green space leading down to the shore. Several bathing piers are located along the beach. The water is classified as brackish water in the Little Belt strait.

Water

Brackish water body in the Little Belt strait. The beach is 380 meters long and 10 meters wide. Water depth is under 2 meters up to 125 meters from the shore. The seabed consists of fine sand. Current direction is variable, primarily from south or north.

Location

East of the Sandersvig summer house area in Denmark. Access is via Sandersvig Strandvej or Espagervej. Trash bins are located at the bathing pier.

Bathing piers, trash bins, first aid kit, waste sorting facilities, warning sign for water quality warnings, life ring, trash cans.

Season

Routine monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Classification revision occurs annually in May before the bathing season starts.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent based on routine monitoring samples from 2012-2015 analysed for E. coli and enterococci indicator bacteria. The classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

A stream outlet south of the beach may periodically contain high concentrations of fecal bacteria; bathing is not recommended in the stream outlet. A discharge pipe from Sandersvig Camping and Tropeland releases treated wastewater at 5 meters depth with minimal impact on water quality under normal conditions. Risk of algal blooms (cyanobacteria and phytoplankton) is low. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) washing ashore exists. Glass shards and litter may occur. Chemical pollution risk is very low.
