Sandersvig Nord

Sandersvig Strand Nord is an 800-meter-long beach composed primarily of fine sand with small stones and crushed shells scattered evenly across the shore. The beach is 10 to 20 meters wide and situated east of the Sandersvig summer house area, surrounded by a large forest with a pleasant green area leading down to the shore. Several bathing piers line the beautiful beach. The area is very shallow, making it well-suited for families with children.

Water

Brackish water in the Little Belt (Lillebælt). Water depth is under 2 meters up to 125 meters from the shore. Current direction is variable, primarily from the south.

Location

The beach is located east of the Sandersvig summer house area in Haderslev Municipality. Access is via Sandersvigvej. Parking is available.

Season

Routine monitoring occurs during the official bathing season. Water quality classification is revised annually in May before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring samples collected during the bathing season and analysis of indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci). A drain pipe outlet just south of the central bathing pier may contain high concentrations of fecal bacteria during heavy rain. A small stream has an outlet 250 meters north of the beach. Within the designated bathing area boundaries, both the drain pipe and stream have low influence on bathing water quality.

Risks

Drain pipe outlet south of central pier poses risk during rainfall. Stream outlet 250 meters north of beach. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) wash-up at the water's edge. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) bloom. Low risk of phytoplankton bloom. Low risk of chemical pollution. Glass shards and litter may occur.
