Anslet Strand

Anslet Strand is a 100-metre-long beach composed primarily of fine sand with scattered stones of various sizes. The seabed consists of sand with small to medium-sized stones. The beach is 5–10 metres wide and is located in Lillebælt, a brackish water body. The water quality at Anslet Strand has been classified as Excellent based on routine monitoring of indicator bacteria.

Water

Brackish water body in Lillebælt. Water depth increases gradually from the shoreline; depths remain under 2 metres for approximately 250 metres from the coast. Primary current direction originates from the west, assessed 50 times between 2006–2011.

Location

Anslet Strand is located north of Anslet Strand Camping and 1 kilometre north of Store Anslet in Haderslev Municipality, Denmark. Access to the beach is via Strandvejen, which leads to Anslet Camping. The area surrounding the beach is enclosed by a small wooded area. Parking is available at the camping area.

Facilities

Toilets and waste bins are available at the adjacent camping area.

Season

Routine bathing water quality monitoring occurs during the official bathing season. Annual classification revision occurs in May before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring of indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) conducted during the bathing season. The classification was calculated using control samples taken regularly between 2012–2015 and is revised annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

A stream outlet located immediately east of the beach may contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria during certain periods; swimming is not recommended in this outlet. A second stream outlet is located 900 metres west of the beach; swimming is not recommended in this outlet. A drainage pipe outlet located immediately west of the beach carries drainage water from the camping area and may contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria during heavy rainfall; swimming is not recommended in this area. Risk of cyanobacteria bloom is low. Risk of phytoplankton bloom is low. Risk of macroalgae wash-up is low. Risk of chemical pollution is very low. Glass shards and litter may occasionally be present. Sudden pollution from incidents such as pleasure boat spills, slurry tank leakage, or sewer line breaks is possible.
