Gravare is a bathing area located on Lake Barrea, situated within the Abruzzo National Park in the L'Aquila Province. The beach is relatively small, with an average width of 40 metres. Lake Barrea is a reservoir managed by ENEL Green Power S.p.A. There are only three beaches designated for bathing on the lake, all located on the territory of Barrea municipality. The surrounding area features small accommodation structures connected to summer tourism.

Location

Barrea, L'Aquila Province, Abruzzo region. The bathing area is bounded by regional and provincial roads and is situated within the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park.

Water quality classification: GOOD. No pollution sources were identified at the time of the profile assessment.

Risks

Potential short-duration pollution events could result from accidental malfunction of the Barrea treatment plant or from increased water inflows to the treatment facility. No cyanobacteria blooms, macroalgae proliferation, phytoplankton events, or potentially toxic species have been recorded.
