Babylone Strand is a shallow bathing beach located north and south of Gl. Strandvej 1A. The water reaches a depth of approximately 2 metres about 100 metres from the shore. The beach has a sandy bottom with scattered groups of stones and experiences weak currents flowing from south to north. The water is classified as Excellent.

Water

Shallow sandy beach with scattered stones. Water depth reaches approximately 2 metres at about 100 metres from the shore. Salinity ranges from 10-20 ‰. Weak currents dominate, flowing from south to north. No risk of riptides or strong currents in shallow water.

Location

Babylone Strand is accessed via Gl. Strandvej in Fredensborg Municipality. Parking is available on the roadside along Gl. Strandvej. Public transport is available via Bus 388 to Kullabergvej. A beach promenade with access to the bathing pier is provided for disabled visitors.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent based on data from 2013-2065. Ten samples are collected throughout the bathing season from 1 June to 31 August. The beach has consistently maintained an Excellent classification since 2013.

Risks

Krogerup Stream discharges immediately north of the beach and may release wastewater from two rainwater basins during rain events. Sydkystens Treatment Plant, located 2 kilometres north of the beach, may discharge untreated wastewater during rain events. Bathing is not recommended during rainy weather and for up to two days after heavy rainfall. Risk of cyanobacteria growth exists, especially in July and August during periods of prolonged high water temperature. Only minimal growth of seaweed occurs within 4 metres of the shoreline.
