Skolestranden is a sandy beach located at Strandvejen 384 in Espergærde, measuring approximately 110 metres long and 25 metres wide. The beach features a bathing pier and grassed area behind the sandy shore. Water quality is classified as Good based on measurements from the four most recent seasons. The beach is situated opposite Strandhøj and is accessible by coastal train to Espergærde Station or by bus 388.

Water

Sandy-bottomed brackish water body with salinity of 1–2%. Water depth reaches approximately 2 metres about 100 metres from the shore. Dominant current direction flows from south to north. No risk of riptide formation and no strong currents in shallow water.

Location

Espergærde, at Strandvejen 384 (opposite Strandhøj). Public transport available via Kystbanen to Espergærde Station and Bus 388. No parking available at the beach. Public toilet located approximately 200 metres north at Espergærde Badelajg.

Facilities

Bathing pier. One rescue post but no lifeguard on duty. Trash bins and rubbish collection. Tables and benches on the grassed area. Dogs on leash permitted from 1 April to 30 September. No disabled access facilities. No parking.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Good, based on results from 10 samples in 2024 and measurements from the four most recent seasons. Cyanobacteria blooms may occur rarely under specific current conditions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Macroalgae and phytoplankton blooms occur rarely. Risk of temporary sewage overflow during heavy rain, potentially contaminating bathing water for up to 2 days after the event.
