Bag ved havn is a sandy beach approximately 150 meters long and 10 meters wide located at Sejerø near Kalundborg, Denmark. The beach features small stones and larger rocks toward the north, with a sand and stone seabed. The beach is classified as Excellent based on water quality measurements from 2018-2021. It is situated adjacent to the harbor and the village of Sejerby.

Water

Sandy beach with small stones and large rocks in the northern section. The seabed is sand with occasional large stones and macroalgae. The beach is approximately 150 meters long and 10 meters wide. Water currents flow predominantly westward.

Location

The beach is accessible via Brovej, which terminates at a parking area by the harbor near Sejerby. The catchment area includes Sejerby and surrounding agricultural land.

Season

Monitoring occurs a minimum of four times per year. The classification section is revised annually in November after the bathing season ends.

Water Quality

The bathing water is classified as Excellent according to measurements of intestinal enterococci and E. coli from 2018-2021. Kalundborg Municipality has no information about drains, watercourses, or other sources near the beach that could cause fecal pollution, and the risk is considered very low.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) can produce toxins causing headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhea in swimmers or those who ingest water. Large quantities of macroalgae at the beach edge may pose health risks and can extend the survival of fecal bacteria in water. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution may occasionally occur.
