Kongstrup Strand is a mixed sand and stone beach approximately 260 metres long and 10 metres wide located on the island of Sejerø. The seabed consists of sand with occasional stones. The beach is classified as 'Good' based on measurements of intestinal enterococci and E. coli from 2018–2021.

Water

Coastal bathing water. Beach is approximately 260 metres long and 10 metres wide with mixed sand and stone substrate and some breakwaters. Seabed consists of sand with occasional stones.

Location

Located in Kongstrup, Sejerø, in Kalundborg Municipality, Denmark. A wheel track provides access from the main road in Kongstrup village.

Season

Bathing season monitoring occurs year-round. The classification section is revised annually in November after the bathing season.

Water Quality

Classification: Good (based on intestinal enterococci and E. coli measurements 2018–2021). Kalundborg Municipality has no recorded information about drains, watercourses, or other sources near the beach that could cause faecal pollution, assessed as very low risk.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and phytoplankton growth or macroalgae. Large quantities of seaweed at the water's edge pose health risks. Cyanobacteria can cause headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhoea. Occasional occurrences of glass fragments, waste, and chemical pollution are possible.
