Tadebæk Skole beach on Sejerø is approximately 110 metres long and 5 metres wide, consisting of sand with small stones arranged in groyne formations. The seabed is stony sand with significant amounts of macroalgae. The beach is backed by 4–5 metre high cliffs with stairs leading from the road to the shore. Water quality measurements for intestinal enterococci and E. coli from 2019–2022 classify the beach as 'Good' according to EU bathing water directive standards.

Water

Sandy seabed with stone content. Beach approximately 110 metres long and 5 metres wide. Large stone groynes spaced approximately 70 metres apart. Current direction varies, primarily flowing westward and occasionally eastward.

Location

The beach is located along Mastrupvej on Sejerø in Kalundborg Municipality. There is no parking available along Mastrupvej. A staircase provides access from the road to the beach. The area behind the beach consists mainly of cultivated fields and open land with only a few houses.

Season

Bathing season is monitored. The classification section of the profile is reviewed annually in November following the end of the bathing season. Water quality samples are taken a minimum of 4 times per year.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (based on intestinal enterococci and E. coli measurements 2019–2022). Kalundborg Municipality reports no known drains, streams, or other sources of faecal pollution near the beach. Risk of faecal pollution is assessed as very low. Significant quantities of macroalgae are present.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) can produce toxic substances causing headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhoea upon contact with water. Large quantities of macroalgae present in the beach area; macroalgae can promote bacterial growth and extend survival of faecal bacteria. Glass fragments, litter, and chemical contamination may occasionally occur.
