Yderby lyng Hyldebo is a bathing area located in the western part of Sjællands Odde in Denmark. The site features large stones and a damaged pier approximately 5 meters long rather than a conventional sandy beach. The water is brackish, a mixture of salt and fresh water. The bathing area is situated in a nature-protected zone with summer cottages in the surrounding hinterland. Water quality has been classified as excellent based on monitoring data from 2017–2021.

Water

Brackish water (mixture of salt and fresh water). At the sampling point, approximately 10 meters out to reach 0.5 meters depth and 75 meters to reach 2 meters depth. Current direction is variable, typically ranging around north-northwest and south.

Location

The bathing area is accessed by driving out Hyldebo Strandvej; a short path leads down to the beach at the end of the road where it curves. The site is located in Odsherred Municipality, Denmark. Parking information is not provided.

Facilities

Information signs on the beach displaying water classification and bathing water description. Lifeguards, toilets, showers, or disabled access are not mentioned.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent according to Regulation 917 (2017–2021 data). Only minor exceedances have been recorded. Given low pollution concentrations, contamination duration in summer is typically short (1–3 days depending on weather, current, and wind). The single recorded exceedance did not coincide with increased precipitation.

Risks

Road drainage outlet directly at the bathing site and a discharge point approximately 800 meters south, both with unknown water quality. Low risk of cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton growth. Bathing is discouraged if water is unclear and feet cannot be seen at knee depth. Children should not play or bathe near washed-up algae. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occasionally occur.
