Water

Coastal bathing water. Water depth at beach edge is 6 metres. Beach width is 10–20 metres. Water depth 20 metres from shore edge. Predominantly weak northward current. Waves typically reach 0.5–0.75 metres, but high waves can occur during northwesterly gales. Skambækken stream discharges approximately 800 metres north of the beach. Silistria stream discharges approximately 300 metres south of the beach.

Ballehage, Aarhus Municipality. Access via trail system or stairs from Dyrehaven. Parking available at Dyrehaven.

Risks

Cyanobacteria blooms can occur during particular current directions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Macroalgae and phytoplankton blooms may occur; large amounts of seaweed at the water's edge pose a risk due to toxin production in decomposing seaweed and protection of disease-causing bacteria from UV degradation.
