Varna is a bathing water in Aarhus Municipality with an excellent water quality classification based on four years of monitoring data. The beach is 10–30 metres wide with predominantly sandy bottom conditions and occasional stone areas. The 2-metre depth contour extends approximately 100 metres from the shore edge. Weak northward currents typically prevail, though high-speed ferry operations may generate waves 50–75 cm above natural wave heights.
