Water

Freshwater lake. Sandy bottom. Beach width 20 metres. Water depth 2 metres at approximately 50 metres from the shore. Predominantly weak northward current.

Location

The beach is situated at Blommehave Camping in Aarhus Municipality. Access is available via the camping site or via stairs located 400 metres north of the campsite. High and steep lakeshores limit access options.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent. Monitoring is based on data from the last four years. Hørkhave Bæk outlet is located 350 metres north of the campsite; heavy rainfall can result in bacterial discharge from the stream to the beach. Cyanobacterial blooms may occur under specific current conditions and after several days of calm, warm weather. Macroalgae blooms can occur; large quantities of seaweed at the shoreline are not recommended for bathing due to potential toxin formation in decomposing algae and bacterial protection from UV degradation.
