Bandholm Strand

Bandholm Strand is an artificially constructed beach located at Bandholm Harbour overlooking Sakskøbing Fjord. The beach is 100 meters long and consists of fine sand without large stones. It is situated in scenic surroundings below Bandholm Badehotel with views towards Askø. A large green area with tables and benches is located near the beach.

Sakskøbing Fjord, classified as brackish water. Water depth is less than 2 meters far out from the beach. Current direction is variable.

Bandholm, accessed via Havnegade or Strandparken. Parking is available near the beach.

Bathing season monitoring period.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2022: Excellent. Classification is based on routine control samples taken regularly during the bathing season 2018–2021, analysed for E. coli and enterococci. No known sources of faecal pollution affecting water quality have been identified.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and phytoplankton blooms. Low risk of large amounts of macroalgae (seaweed) washing ashore. Glass shards and litter can occur. Very low risk of chemical pollution such as oil spills. Sudden pollution from accidents involving pleasure boats, slurry tanks, or sewage lines is possible.
