Bjerregård is a charming small beach located in the southwestern part of Ringkøbing Fjord near Bjerregård Camping. The beach is up to 25 meters wide and 30 meters long, composed of fine sand with a sandy fjord bottom. The water is shallow and very child-friendly, making it optimal for swimming and surfing. The beach is situated in a beautiful natural setting with views of the Tipperne bird reserve.

Water

Brackish water in Ringkøbing Fjord. Water depth increases gently offshore; most of the fjord is under 2 meters deep. Current direction is variable with no primary flow direction. The fjord bottom consists of fine sand.

Location

The beach is located at Bjerregård Camping in the southwestern section of Ringkøbing Fjord. Access is via Sønder Klitvej to the camping area where parking is available.

Facilities

Toilet facilities with drinking water, parking, trash bins, warning signs, and showers available at the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring of indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) conducted regularly over a 4-year period. The classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

Minor drainage ditches north and south of the beach carry risk of high fecal bacteria concentrations during rainy weather. A fold with various creatures located northwest of the beach has direct access to the fjord 100 meters away, potentially affecting water quality. Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) washup is low. Glass shards, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur.
