Bøgebjerg is a beach located approximately 6 kilometres from Faaborg on the south-facing coast of Faaborg Fjord. The primary bathing area is approximately 100 metres long and consists of fine sand and small stones. A bathing pier approximately 30 metres long provides access to a finer sandy bottom. The beach is backed by vegetation including reeds and grass, and a table with benches is positioned behind the most suitable bathing area.

Water

Marine bathing area in Faaborg Fjord, south-facing. The best bathing section is approximately 100 metres long. Beach width is approximately 10 metres at its widest point with a relatively gentle slope towards the water. Water depth reaches approximately 1.5 metres after approximately 90 metres from shore. The seabed features seaweed and large stones, with a large mussel bank located further out.

Location

Approximately 6 kilometres from Faaborg. Access to the beach is via Bøgebjerglund, a side road off Svendborgvej. Parking can be difficult in the area; a small grass area for parking is accessible by following a field path 50 metres down Bøgebjerglund.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored through regular measurements in the primary bathing area. Classification is based on microbiological bathing water data from the most recent four bathing seasons. There is an outflow from a stream or drainage system east of the bathing pier; bathing in and around this outflow is not recommended.

Risks

Seaweed has been observed during bathing season, which can accumulate and promote bacterial growth, potentially prolonging the survival of faecal bacteria. A stream or drainage outflow is located east of the bathing pier. Glass shards, oil pollution, and litter can occasionally occur. Large agricultural operations in the catchment area present a potential risk of pollution from manure storage failures or spreading, though manure spreading typically occurs outside bathing season.
