Dyreborg Skov

Dyreborg Skov is a bathing beach located approximately 6 kilometres from Faaborg, oriented southeast towards Faaborg Fjord. The best swimming section spans approximately 150 metres, with fine sand in the centre and coarser sand with small stones towards the sides. The beach width reaches approximately 15 metres at its widest point with a relatively gentle slope towards the water. The seabed is very fine, and water depth reaches approximately 1.5 metres after 90 metres from shore.

Water

Saltwater beach in Faaborg Fjord. The beach is approximately 150 metres long and 15 metres wide at its widest point. Water depth reaches approximately 1.5 metres at 90 metres from shore. Seaweed passes are encountered when moving away from the shore. The seabed is very fine.

Location

Approximately 6 kilometres by road from Faaborg, Denmark. Access via Bjerne Langgyde, a side road to Bjernevej. The beach is bordered by Dyreborg Skov forest to the north and residential areas to the southwest.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored regularly through microbiological sampling in the primary bathing area. Classification is based on microbiological bathing water data from the most recent four bathing seasons. Risk of pollution from sewage is low as the western part of Dyreborg is connected to a combined sewage system with no overflow risk. No confirmed connection has been established between heavy rainfall events and beach contamination.

Risks

Large-scale livestock farms present a potential pollution risk from manure storage accidents or manure spreading, though manure spreading primarily occurs outside the bathing season. Seaweed and plankton occurrences have been observed during the bathing season; accumulated seaweed can promote bacterial growth and prolong survival of faecal bacteria. Occasional glass shards, oil contamination, and litter have been found. Cyanobacteria risk is low, with no blooms observed in the past five years.
