Nab is a bathing beach located on the western shore of Faaborg Fjord, approximately 8 km from Faaborg. The primary bathing area is approximately 250 metres long and consists of very fine yellow sand with a relatively gentle slope towards the water. The beach is backed by a grassed area with picnic tables and a larger grass area for parking further inland. The seabed is characterized by considerable seaweed, particularly outside the immediate bathing area where larger stones are also present.

Water

Faaborg Fjord. Water depth reaches approximately 1.5 metres after about 20 metres from shore. The seabed near the bathing pier and to its north is fine sand; further out it contains larger stones and considerable seaweed. The primary current direction is southerly or westerly, influenced by tidal and wind conditions.

Location

Nab is located approximately 8 km by road from Faaborg. Access to the beach is via Nabgyden, a side road off Svendborgvej. Parking is available in a large grass area behind the beach.

Facilities

Picnic tables with benches are provided. A grassed area suitable for sunbathing is located immediately behind the beach. The beach is westward-facing.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified based on microbiological bathing water data from the four most recent bathing seasons. Continuous monitoring is conducted in the primary bathing area. Drainage outlets exist north of the bathing pier; bathers are advised to avoid bathing in and around these outlets. The municipality has assessed the risk of contamination as low.

Risks

Risk of seaweed accumulation is greatest towards the end of the bathing season, with larger accumulations observed in late August. Risk of cyanobacteria is assessed as low, with no blooms, surface layers, or foam observed in the five years prior. Drainage outlets north of the bathing pier present a potential risk. Glass shards, oil pollution, and litter may occasionally occur.
