Dybskrog

Dybskrog is a bathing beach located approximately 11 kilometres from Faaborg in southern Funen, Denmark, facing the South Funen archipelago. The best part of the beach is approximately 30 metres long and consists of very fine sand, with a beach width of around 15 metres at its widest point and a relatively gentle slope towards the water. A private bathing pier extends 30–40 metres over a lightly stony bottom. The seabed is characterized by seaweed and small stones in the first 10 metres, becoming finer further out but muddy in some places.

Water

Coastal bathing water body in the South Funen archipelago, facing east. Water depth reaches approximately 1.5 metres after about 60 metres from shore. The seabed comprises seaweed and small stones in the first 10 metres, finer material further out with some muddy patches. Primary current direction is south or south-westerly, influenced by tidal conditions and wind.

Location

Dybskrog is located approximately 11 kilometres by road from Faaborg. The beach is accessed via Dybskrog, a private shared road, and Østergyden, a side road off Svendborgvej. Access by car is not easy. A private grass area lies immediately behind the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is based on microbiological bathing water data from the previous four bathing seasons. Monitoring is conducted continuously in the primary bathing area. No confirmed link has been established between heavy rainfall events and beach pollution from sewer overflows. The municipality assesses the risk of bathing water contamination from sewer overflows as low given distance and experience.

Risks

Seaweed accumulation has been observed during the bathing season, which can promote bacterial growth and prolong survival of faecal bacteria. The risk from cyanobacteria is low, with no blooms, surface layers, or foam observed in the previous five years. Occasional glass, oil pollution, and litter may occur. Large-scale livestock farming operations present a potential risk of slurry tank accidents or spillage, though no incidents affecting bathing water quality have been recorded. Manure spreading occurs primarily outside the bathing season.
