Ved Vejs Ende is a bathing beach in Strøby, Denmark, located along Køge Bay. The beach is 125 metres long and up to 10 metres wide, consisting of a mixture of stones and fine sand that extends into the water. A bathing pier allows swimmers to pass over the stones near the shore. The beach is set in beautiful surroundings with large green areas and is backed by the Strøby Ladeplads area of summer houses and year-round residences.

Water

Marine brackish water in Køge Bay. Water depth increases gradually from the shore, remaining under 2 metres at 200 metres from the coast and under 4 metres at 500 metres out. Current direction is variable, coming primarily from the west or east.

Location

Strøby, Denmark, along Køge Bay. Good parking facilities are available near the beach, which include toilet facilities and a rescue ring.

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent quality for 2022, based on routine monitoring samples from 2018–2021 testing for fecal indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci). The classification is revised annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

A stormwater outfall west of the bathing pier poses a risk of high fecal bacterial concentrations during rainy weather. A small stream 50 metres west of the beach, draining from Uglemosen, carries risk of high fecal bacterial concentrations at times. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) washing up in the water's edge. Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms and phytoplankton blooms. Glass shards and litter may occur. Very low risk of chemical pollution such as oil spills. Sudden contamination from accidents involving pleasure boats, slurry tanks, and sewage lines is possible.
