Strandparksvej is a 60-meter-long beach in the northwestern part of Strøby Egede, consisting of fine sand with scattered small and medium-sized stones. The beach is situated on the coast of Køge Bay, which is oriented southeast to northwest. The beach features a bathing pier and benches for viewing the shoreline. Water depth is less than 2 meters approximately 250 meters from the shore and less than 4 meters approximately 800 meters from the shore.

Water

Køge Bay is classified as brackish water. The beach is 60 meters long and 15–20 meters wide. The seabed consists of fine sand and small stones. Water depth is less than 2 meters approximately 250 meters from the shore and less than 4 meters approximately 800 meters from the shore. Current direction is variable, primarily from the west and east.

Location

The beach is located in the northwestern end of Strøby Egede. A parking area with toilet facilities, drinking water, and disabled access is situated 200 meters west of the beach. A large green area near the parking provides space for various activities.

Season

Routine water quality monitoring is conducted during the bathing season. Water classification is revised annually in May before the bathing season.

Water Quality

The beach is classified as Excellent quality for 2022, based on routine water samples analyzed for E. coli and enterococci indicator bacteria collected regularly from 2018–2021. Classification is revised annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. Macroalgae (seaweed) can wash ashore. Storm water discharge outlets at the southeastern end of the beach pose a risk of fecal contamination during heavy rain. Two combined sewer overflow structures are located 200 meters and 600 meters southeast of the beach. Glass shards and litter can occur. Risk of chemical contamination such as oil spills is very low.
