Bogø Skåningsbro is a bathing location at a small, charming leisure harbour on the north coast of the island of Bogø. Swimming takes place from a dock at the Skåninge Bro harbour facility, which is situated in peaceful surroundings. The seabed consists of fine sand with small stones scattered across the bottom. The dock extends 30 meters along the east side of the harbour with ample space for sunbathing.

Water

Brakvand (brackish water) in Kalve Strøm. Water depth increases gradually, reaching less than 2 metres 100–120 metres from the shore. Current direction is variable, primarily from the west.

Location

Skåninge Bro is located on the island of Bogø, accessible via Skåningevej to a large car park just outside the harbour. The harbour lies on the north coast of Bogø, facing Skillingebæk Bay in Kalve Strøm, the waterway between South Zealand and Bogø.

Facilities

Dock for swimming, tables and benches for dining, toilets at the Sailing Club buildings, parking, waste bins, rescue ring.

Season

Bathing season monitoring occurs during the official bathing season, with annual classification revision in May.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The classification is based on routine monitoring of fecal indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) conducted during the bathing season. The classification meets the required standards and is revised annually before the start of the bathing season.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms is low. Risk of phytoplankton blooms is low. No risk of seaweed (macroalgae) washing ashore. Glass shards and litter can occur on the beach. Risk of chemical pollution (such as oil spills) is very low. Vordingborg Municipality is not aware of any faecal pollution sources or short-term pollution sources in the vicinity of Skåninge Bro.
