Nyråd Florke

Nyråd Florke is a 250-metre-long sandy beach located on the Storstrømmen water body east of Vordingborg in Denmark. The beach is 5–10 metres wide and composed of sand covered with small to medium stones, with some larger stones in places. The seabed consists of fine sand with scattered small to medium stones. Water depth increases gradually offshore and is child-friendly, reaching 2 metres approximately 140 metres from the shore.

Water

Storstrømmen, classified as brackish water. Current direction is variable with no primary direction. Water depth under 2 metres extends approximately 140 metres from the shore.

Location

Located on Storstrømmen east of Vordingborg, near the elderly care centre Vintersbølle Strand. Access is via Vintersbølle Strand road leading to a car park at the care centre, from which an asphalt path leads to the beach.

Facilities

Trash bins are located along the beach and at the car park. Warning sign system in place for water quality alerts.

Season

Routine monitoring conducted during the bathing season. Annual classification review occurs in May.

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent quality based on routine sampling conducted from 2007–2010. Water is monitored regularly during the bathing season for indicator bacteria E. coli and enterococci. Classification meets required standards and is reviewed annually before the bathing season.

Risks

Stream outlet 250 metres west of the beach may contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria. Vintersbølle Bæk stream outlet 320 metres east presents similar risk and receives discharge from two overflow structures. Two overflow structures 130 metres west of the beach can discharge wastewater during heavy rainfall. Storm water pipe outlet in the middle of the beach may carry high bacterial concentrations during rain. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) wash-up at water's edge. Risk of glass shards and debris. Low risk of cyanobacteria bloom. Low risk of phytoplankton bloom. Very low risk of chemical contamination.
