Camping Internazionale Riviera is a bathing area on Lake Maggiore in the Piedmont region. The beach is pebbly with a gentle slope and measures 448 metres in width. The area is located within an accommodation facility that includes two restaurants, a mini market, a bar, and public showers.

Water

Lake Maggiore. The bathing area extends 0.448 square kilometres.

Location

Cannobio, Verbano Cusio Ossola Province, Piedmont region. The beach is situated on the left orographic bank of the Cannobino stream, which flows into Lake Maggiore approximately 200 metres south of the monitoring point. Elevation: 214 metres above sea level.

Facilities

Two restaurants, mini market, bar, public showers. Animal access is prohibited.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Based on 18 routine samples collected during 2020–2023. Escherichia coli: 90th percentile 39.0 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 70.1 MPN/100 ml. Enterococci: 90th percentile 43.8 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 72.4 MPN/100 ml. The bathing water is located within the Maggiore 2 homogeneous area, classified as high pressure due to elevated indicator classes. A wastewater treatment plant is located approximately 500 metres upstream from the sampling point.

Risks

The bathing zone could be affected by flooding from the Cannobino stream, which may introduce pollutants to the lake. Intense precipitation can trigger overflow structures and accidental failures of lifting systems, leading to the discharge of untreated sewage into the lake. Watercraft may release mineral oils and fuel. No cyanobacterial blooms, macroalgal proliferation, or toxic effects have been recorded in the past four years.
