A bathing beach located on the Cannobino stream in Cannobio, Piedmont, Italy. The beach features a pebbly shoreline approximately 101 metres in width and sits at an altitude of 214 metres above sea level. It forms part of an intermediate section of a cycle-pedestrian path that extends from a lido park to the Orrido di Sant'Anna. The water quality is classified as sufficient based on routine monitoring data from 2021 to 2024.

The Cannobino stream, a small river body with surface flow. The bathing area covers 0.101 square kilometres and is located at 214 metres altitude.

Location

Cannobio, Verbano Cusio Ossola province, Piedmont region, Italy. The beach is situated on the left orographic bank of the Cannobino stream where it flows into Lake Maggiore.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Sufficient. Based on 19 routine samples collected from 2021 to 2024. Escherichia coli: 90th percentile 466.6 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 647.9 MPN/100 ml. Enterococci: 90th percentile 291.0 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 446.1 MPN/100 ml. A wastewater treatment plant is located approximately 200 metres upstream. A spillway and pumping station are also present in the same influence zone. Possible sources of pollution include civil sewage discharges upstream and inadequate sewerage network management.

Risks

Heavy rainfall can activate spillway structures. Accidental failures of pumping installations can introduce untreated sewage. No cyanobacterial monitoring is conducted periodically. No macroalgae or phytoplankton proliferation has been detected.
